Taylor Nguyen grew up alongside his cello in the central valley of Fresno, California. He has been playing the cello since he was 5 years old. He was encouraged to pursue his love of music by his parents, who are both violinists. His father also taught him how play the violin and viola.Â
Taylor developed a connection with music through performance. Taylor performed in many Honor Orchestras. He was the principal cellist in FMCMEA, as well as assistant principal in California All State. He also has attended Fresno City College and University of Las Vegas, and has studied with Valerie Waldon, Thomas Lowenheim, and Andrew Smith. Taylor is also the principal cellist for the Trinity Chamber Orchestra in Orange County, California. Taylor also served as the principal cellist for Jackie Evancho, Mannheim Steamroller, Johnny Mathis, Dionne Warwick, and Smokey Robinson. Taylor plays in a family quartet called NewWin 4. NewWin 4 plays both classical and contemporary music for weddings, and has toured with the Men’s Mennonite Choir. NewWin4 has also played for the Lights of Love Cancer Foundation event. Â
Taylor has been teaching private lessons for 7 years. While in high school, Taylor was inspired by his former teachers and mentors to teach music. Taylor has a passion for encouraging growth through music. During high school, he built a class of students who would later join honor programs including FMCMEA and California All-state. Taylor went on to help orchestras in the Central Unified School District strengthen their programs after the hardship of the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2024 Taylor moved to Las Vegas to start the next chapter of performances and working with the next generation of bright musicians.
