Sheldon Stevens

Sheldon Stevens is a versatile percussionist and educator with over a decade of performing and teaching experience. A graduate of Southern Utah University with a degree in Percussion Performance, Sheldon received the prestigious Presidential Scholarship for Music and was featured as a soloist in SUU’s Concerto Competition for Emerging Artists. His performance career spans Utah, Nevada, California, and Idaho and includes everything from jazz ensembles and concert percussion groups to high-energy punk bands. In 2025 he performed on the Yamaha Main Stage at the NAMM Show, further establishing his presence as a dynamic and multifaceted performer.

Over the past five years, Sheldon has taught drum set and percussion to students of all ages and skill levels. Many of his students have earned superior ratings at state solo and ensemble competitions, performed in honor bands, and gained recognition in their own musical communities. Drawing on his diverse performance background, he offers instruction in a wide variety of styles including jazz, rock, punk, pop, and concert percussion.

Sheldon’s teaching philosophy centers on helping students build solid fundamentals that will allow the students to be creative. He believes that learning the drums should be both challenging and enjoyable, combining strong technical foundations with opportunities to explore different genres and develop an individual sound. Whether a student is preparing for auditions, learning for fun, or expanding their skills, Sheldon tailors each lesson to meet their goals and nurture a lifelong love of music.
